The pet for Tuesday 06/30/2009 is Doodle! Here are some photos and some information about Doodle! For another look at some of the “other” animals available for adoption at Anchorage Animal Care and Control Center, this week we’d like to introduce you to Doodle, an adult rooster! Having a rooster is not for everyone, but they can be a great pet for someone interested in more unusual companions. They can be wonderful help keeping pests under control in your garden and most chickens/roosters can be tamed and trained, even as adults, with positive reinforcements and food rewards. They do need to be kept outdoors at least part of the day, supervised or contained to protect them against predators. Their crowing can be quite loud, so they are not an apartment pet, but can live between 10-15 years, so can become quite attached to their human companions. Doodle can be adopted for $10.
The pet for TODAY is Dallas! Here are some photos and some information about Dallas! This is Dallas, a beautiful American Bull Dog. She is about two years old, and a bundle of fun. She was with a great family that simply just did not have enough time for her. The family she came from has young children and Dallas always got along with them. She never showed any aggression, and was very sweet to everyone. She has been well cared for, when you go down to the Anchorage Animal Care and Control to check out this sweet girl, she may be a bit timid but don’t let that discourage you. As soon as she warms up she will be your best friend. She loves playing fetch, is house trained (might take a little retaining in a new environment, like any animal), and is great with people. Make sure that you don’t pass up this wonderful dog.

The pet for Tuesday 06/23/2009 is Kimber, here is a photo and some information about Kimber...
Today we have Kimber, a 3 year old, spayed female, domestic mediumhair, calico cat. She is also declawed in front. This beautiful girl has a personality to match her gorgeous coloring. She can be playful, but also affectionate. She loves being brushed, having her tummy rubbed, and a good lap to curl up in! As she is already spayed, she can be adopted for $62, which covers her vaccinations and microchip! Help us wrap up June as Adopt-A-Cat month by finding Kimber a great home!
